Theme: Speaking. “Tourism”.

Aims and objectives:  

            - to have the Ss get acquainted with new information and using it speak on the theme                 

            - to develop the Ss speaking skills and creative abilities

            - to improve the Ss group work, to take care of environment

Type of the lesson:  lesson of developing skills and abilities

Equipment: interactive board, presentations, posters, video, paper

Plan:

I. Preliminaries and Warm-up.

Discussing aims and tasks of the lesson.

Warm-up.

1. Give associations.

2. Answer the question.

II. Presentation.

 Work out the definition of the word “tourism”

III. Practice.

1. Watch a video (1) and answer the question.

2. Watch the S’s presentation and do the tasks.

3. Give advantages and disadvantages of tourism.

4. Watch a video (2) and do the tasks.

IV. Production.

1. Read quotes and sayings about tourism and give your opinion about them.

2. Make a poster “Tourism” and introduce it to the class.

V. Conclusion and home task.

Think of your ideas to improve tourism in our town and introduce them to the class.

Outline:

I. Preliminaries and Warm-up.

Discussing aims and tasks of the lesson.

Warm-up.

1. The Ss give associations to the word “tourism” and explain their choice.

2. The Ss answer the question: Would you like to become a tourist? Why?

II. Presentation.

The Ss in groups work out the definition of the word “tourism”, say it to the class, then compare it with the definition taken from the dictionary. (active board)

III. Practice.

1. The Ss watch a video (1) and having discussed it as a group answer the question in one word: Tourism isn’t only travelling. What else is it? (active board)

2. The Ss watch a S’s presentation “Kinds of tourism”, name a kind of tourism and say what people can do having taken this kind of tourism. They discuss their ideas as a group first, then check as a class. (active board)

3. The Ss at first as a group, then as a class give advantages and disadvantages of tourism.

4. The Ss watch a video (2) and say what new information they have known from it and discuss the answer to the question: Why is tourism important? They discuss their ideas as a group first, then as a class. (active board)

IV. Production.

1. The Ss read quotes and sayings about tourism, choose one and give their opinion about it. (active board)

2. The Ss as a group draw a poster “Tourism” and 2 Ss from each group introduce it to the class.

V. Conclusion and home task.

Think of your ideas to improve tourism in our town and introduce them to the class.
